Gallery Escalante in 1943    History

Tracy and Jana Hassett purchased their 1943 gas station and remodeled the building for their Fine Art Gallery in 2006.  Visit our BLOG for more history and pictures.

Tracy

Tracy was a master workworker on the Oregon coast for 30+ years, creating finely turned Myrtlewood bowls, and treasures.  After years of standing at a lathe, he finally retired from woodworking and closed his retail gift store.  He and wife Jana created a Portrait studio for several years, but began to realize it was getting harder to keep up with Brides and 5 yr olds.

Tracy persued his passion for Photography and now uses his keen eye to create Giclee prints for several of Escalante's artists.  In addition, his one-of-a-kind digital paintings adorn the walls of local businesses.  Tracy is a member of the Potato Valley Lions Club, and Chair of the Escalante Municipal Airport Committee.

Jana

Jana spent 25 years in public affairs and public relations and retired in 1998.  She has created fiber artworks for over 30 years and now works with Pendleton wood and hemp for her hand-twined basketry.  Her bead-woven jewelry is all one-of-a-kind and is created from gemstones, petrified wood and glass beads.

She runs the Gallery daily year-round; teaches basketry and beadwork classes in the winter/spring; and is the volunteer grant writer for Escalante City.
